The squeaking of the odd shoes on the surface of the stone floor was the thing that woke her from her slumber, eyes flickering open as she glanced around the room. The squeaking ceased outside of her room before the loud tumbling and clacking of the door unlocking was heard. It made an agonized sound as it swung open, the silhouette of the large man with his wild hair in the doorway a – mostly – terrifying image.
But she wasn't scared. She looked level at the man who stepped in, squeaking against the floor again. She could see his painted face now, the mocking skull always smiling to compliment the serious, angered face of the Highblood."Have you come to interrogate me some more, Subjuggluator?"
"YOU SPEAK," The growling roar of a voice echoed through the room, Larkaria would have flinched, had she been weaker willed "WHEN SPOKEN TO."
There was a pause, silence in the room, before he walked over, grabbing Larkaria by her shirt and dragging her towards the table, then shoving her into a chair.
"YOU WILL. CONFESS."
"To what, Subjuggulator?" A smirk crossed her face as she gave her sweetest smile to the Highblood, tempting fate, but he did not react as she'd expected.
"TO YOUR. CRIMES."

Of course, she knew what he was talking about. She was a rainbow drinker, they were not very highly thought of, feared by most, hated by others, and hunted by some. The subjuggulators seemed to flip between the latter two options. Larkaria shook her head. "I have committed no crimes, my-"
There was the reaction she'd been expecting. She spiralled down to the ground as the Highblood slapped her across the face, growling. "YOU ARE. A RAINBOW DRINKER. YOU HAVE. FEASTED UPON MY BROTHERS."
"Grand Subjuggulator, I have never once touched any royal bloods, I sw-"
"LIES. FILTHY, DISGUSTING LIES. LIKE YOUR BLOOD."
She winced at that. She may be a rainbow drinker, but her blood was of a higher standing. She didn't even quite enjoy feeding from those who weren't enemies, but it was so hard sometimes.
The Highblood stood, tugging the juggling club from his belt and twirling it as he moved over.
"CONFESS. NOW."
Larkaria winced, holding up a hand. "Please, Subjuggulator, I have not fed in months."
"YOU LIE. STOP LYING TO ME." He raised the club. "YOU EXPECT. I WOULD BELIEVE THERE IS ANOTHER?"
Their eyes met, staring at each other for several long moments, Larkaria didn't dare speak for fear of the Subjuggulator's wrath, and he waited for a response. After a few long moments, he lowered the club, turned, and walked towards the door.
"YOU WILL. CONFESS NEXT TIME." He growled out, leaving and locking the door, leaving her to finally let her emotions flow, the tears coming quick. That was too close, worse than the last few times. Her time could well be running out if they didn't find the other quickly. She prayed it would be soon, and at the same time, feared the fate that would become of the other drinker.
While the Highblood sighed, looking at his hands outside. Why couldn't he do it? Why couldn't he kill her?

He'd find out soon enough.
A short crackfiction written for :iconballedkalilee: about Gamzee's Ancestor and Kanaya's Ancestor. Quickly written, without caffeine, and I'm planning on possibly extending/making some revisions for it.

The name Larkaria was used for Kanaya's ancestor due to suggestion of BK's friend, and a running theme of "songbird", which hopefully one of them will explain here, as I'm really tired.

So yeah, Gam/Kan stuff, with their ancestors. Honk. I guess?

Bluh.

It's good to see a fellow author writing about HS.
This is really good. A real cliffhanger at the end. It made me want to read more. ^^
